A 2004 magazine predicted what the Friends cast would look like now – its wild

Friends: Classic NBC sitcom teased in trailer

A magazine poorly predicted what the Friends cast would look like in 20 years’ time and it even made Jennifer Aniston look completely unrecognisble.

A resurfaced Star magazine spread from 2004 predicting what the cast of Friends would look like in 2024 has gone viral on Instagram and Reddit.

The magazine claims it used “computer magic” to see how Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), Matt Perry (Chandler Bing) and Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani) would all look 20 years on at the time.

And as 2024 is looming in the near future, the actors would have to get a lot greyer and “puffier” within the next five months to even come close to the computer-generated images.

To begin with, Star claimed David “may go grey by age 57, but he won’t lose any of his boyish charm.”

As it stands David, natural or not, still has a full head of dark glossy hair.

“She’ll be puffier, but Jennifer will always have great hair,” the publication said of Jennifer who is now 54, and is certainly far from “puffy,” although she does still have a great mane of hair.

For Joey, the Star wrote: “Matt will remain every bit the ladies’ man at age 56,” while also predicting, “Monica: Courteney will still be stylish in her late 50s.”

“Matthew: Behold the Matthew of 2024—could he be any more jowly?” Star magazine guessed, giving him a receding hairline and grey hair.

Lisa got the best prediction out of the bad bunch, which read: “Twenty years won’t matter to Lisa, who’ll still be flashing that cute smile.”

While the predictions were far from accurate, the spread definitely gave fans something to laugh about.

Under the meme account that posted the article, one fan @kateforsyth penned: “Omg the friends one though. These people are in their 50s not their 70s!”

Another fan @eighthofjuly questioned: “Why did Star think Friends cast faces would become deformed?”

Another user wrote: “Was Friends in 2024 created via The Sims?”

“Star just wanted to fatten everyone up what the heck,” added someone else.

A fourth pointed out: “Wow they really did Jennifer dirty. She’s way prettier than that.”

As another fan quipped: “Why did they make their heads so big and faces so small? It’s creepy.”

Friends aired on NBC in the US between 1995 and 2004.
