Sheridan Smith’s guilty over taking son Billy to work- He kept calling the crew Daddy

Sheridan Smith is stranded on a tropical island, away from friends and family, in the latest Paramount+ thriller The Castaways – but the BAFTA winner has revealed that she got to take her three-year-old son Billy along for the ride on set.

The 42-year-old, who shares Billy with her ex partner Jamie Horn, revealed that she took her son with her to film in Greece, although she was sorry to be apart from him when working.

“I felt guilty having Billy there sometimes because they were such long days,” she said. “There were some scenes where I’d be covered in blood and he’d see me at lunchtime and I’d say, ‘It’s jam!’"

Billy was having too much fun however, keeping himself entertained on the exciting holiday set.

"Billy was always nearby, playing in the sea or running between the trailers, driving everyone mad," she laughed. "He kept calling all the crew daddy, which was a bit weird.

"But at night, we’d get into bed and have a snuggle.”

Sheridan gave birth to Billy in May 2020, but broke up with his father Jamie – an insurance broker – a year later following a three-year relationship.

The actress recently posted a sweet picture of Billy with her friend, professional boxer Sandy Ryan, and her World Championship belt, writing, "My lil boy Billy with his Aunty @sandyryan93 our new world champ! We're so proud of you!"

Sheridan stars in The Castaways alongside Showtrial's Celine Buckens – who plays her on-screen sister Erin. The drama follows Erin as she tracks down her missing sibling in Fiji whilst revealing what happened to Lori (Sheridan) after her plane crashed, stranding her on an island.

The Paramount+ star appeared on The One Show to promote the project this week, however she became stuck in the studio's lift alongside fellow guest Stephen Fry.

Addressing the nightmare live on the show, host Alex Jones said, "We are having a night here. Stephen Fry and Sheridan Smith are due on this sofa. Obviously, it's a live programme they are stuck in the lift. For the time being we will go on to a film."

Meanwhile, co-host Ronan Keating added, "And they're fine! They're absolutely fine. Hopefully, they'll be here before the end of the show."

The Castaways arrives on Paramount+ on Boxing Day.
